It’s that time of year again to parade down the street, catch some beads, and bring out all your purple, green, & gold attire! Here in New Orleans we prepare for Mardi Gras all year round. I mean what other city welcomes a flood of tourists into their homes with wide open arms and a drink?
There are two ways to dress for the occasion and both are acceptable and encouraged. You can put on anything sequin, bedazzled and sparkly. The goal is to look like a smorgasbord of eye catching fun! Think of Mardi Gras as another Halloween but for only the South. Now if you aren’t as risky, you can go with something more subtle. This Mardi Gras outfit I put together is fun, trendy, but also practical for your day of fun with family and friends. I love these stretchy bell bottoms because they allow you to eat as much fried chicken as you want and still be able to drop it low later on in the day. And no outfit is complete without fringe or tassels. These fun earrings pair perfectly with this bright mustardy gold sweater from one of my fav local boutiques, Stella Dallas. Last but not least, don’t forget about your shoes! Choosing a pair of COMFY and cute shoes is the most important. Believe me, you will be walking quite a lot and nothing ruins your good time more than blisters. Low heeled booties or some trendy sneakers will be your best bet.
Are y’all ready for Mardi Gras? Have you been to New Orleans for carnival season?
